Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra

Welcome to the fascinating world of Yoga Nidra! Also known as “yogic sleep,” this ancient yogic technique embraces the art of deep relaxation and awareness. Unlike regular sleep, Yoga Nidra combines physical, mental, and spiritual aspects to achieve a complete state of relaxation and restoration.

Who is Yoga Nidra for? Simply put, it’s for everyone! Whether you’re a yoga practitioner or have never touched a yoga mat before, Yoga Nidra can help you reduce stress, improve sleep quality, and experience deeper levels of peace and serenity. It offers help to those who struggle with anxiety, depression, insomnia, and other stress-related conditions.

During a session we go through 8 steps. These 8 steps of Yoga Nidra are essential for achieving maximum effect.

The first step is to become aware of our breathing, without changing anything. By following the natural rhythm of our breathing, we activate our parasympathetic nervous system and calm our mind.

During the second step we become aware of the space we are in, of our senses and of our body. We do an extensive body scan where we encourage awareness, relaxation and letting go.

In step 3 we think of an intention, a Sankalpa. You can see this as a positive intention for and from yourself that gets extra power because you take it with you into your subconscious. You plant a seed there that you keep watering, even after the session, so that visible change eventually blossoms.

During step 4 I take you on a journey by helping you visualize images. We mentally create a calm, beautiful environment that fully matches the theme of the session. Visualization appeals to the imagination, intuition and creativity and helps to remove blockages, release tension and get back in touch with yourself.

Step 5 is focused on your emotions, feelings and contradictions therein. Here we bring our attention to opposite feelings and sensations to make ourselves aware of our internal balance. We create space in our mind and give space to our thoughts and emotions. This form of awareness teaches us to deal with our feelings in a different way and brings calmness to our mind and peace to our body.

With step 6 we end up in the 'in-between'.. A state of consciousness between sleeping and waking. The everyday has disappeared into the background for a while and new insights are gently trickling into your consciousness. This is where you can let go.. this is where new ideas, insights and solutions arise.

Step 7 gently brings us back to our Sankalpa. We reiterate our intention to promote and welcome positive change.

Step 8 is welcoming ourselves back into the present moment.

The order of these steps may vary from session to session.

With the last step we take the time to slowly awaken body and mind. We bring ourselves very quietly back to the space we are in and bring movement back into our body.

Yoga Nidra offers a true oasis of calm in our hectic lives. It helps us heal physically, emotionally and spiritually by addressing deeper layers of our consciousness. It is a wonderful way to connect with your inner peace, your self-healing ability and find balance in your daily life.

Come and discover the transformative power of Yoga Nidra, a journey to inner peace and restoration that will enrich your life.
